My Account

About My Account

When signed in with your library card and password or PIN, you can access My Library Account, where you can:

  • see what items you currently have on reserve, if they are available to be picked up or see your current place in the queue
  • see your current loans and overdue loans
  • renew your loans if they are not overdue or reserved by someone else
  • see your current requests
  • cancel your current reservations or requests if they are no longer needed
  • create new alert profiles and update your existing profiles
  • review, update and delete any ratings and comments you have created
  • view a history of your previous loans, reservations and requests
  • view and update your address and contact details

Signing in

You will need to sign in to:

  • access your personal account details
  • renew your loans
  • reserve an item
  • review an item
You do not need to sign in to search the catalogue.

To sign in:

  1. Click Sign in from the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Enter your library card number and your password or PIN.
  3. Click Sign in

Although you do not need to sign in to search the catalogue, you may like to sign in before you start searching the catalogue so you can place reservations, create requests and reviews when you find items. If you sign in using the main sign in link, the catalogue will remember your details for the duration of your session and you will not need to enter your details again. Otherwise, you will need to sign in for each transaction.

Forgot your password or PIN?

If you forget your password/PIN:

  1. Click Sign in then click the Forgot Your Password/PIN? link below the text fields.
  2. Enter your library card number and your surname.
  3. Click OK.

Your current password/PIN will be emailed to you. Please contact us if you do not have an email address.

Summary Listing

The My Account ~ Summary listing page provides a detailed breakdown of your current account. This page provides details of your library account, with some sections only appearing when applicable. You can click on the hyperlinks provided to display more detailed information.

Alerts

This section displays the following pieces of important information:

  • Any current traps associated with your card - for example if your card has expired
  • A link to fees currently on your card
  • A link to a list of items currently overdue
  • A link to a list of reservations available to collect

Messages

This section displays a list of any current messages. Please contact us to remove any messages that are no longer current.

Loans

This section is always displayed and shows the number of items currently on loan to you. These items are listed according to their current status as follows:

  • All current loans
  • Overdue loans
  • Loans you have claimed to have returned
  • Loans you have reported as being lost
  • Loans we have designated as being lost

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each loan. Use these links to renew your loans.

Reservations

This section displays information regarding your current reservations. The following information is displayed:

  • Reservations available for pickup
  • Reservations not yet available

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each reservation. Use these links to cancel your reservations.

Other

This section displays information about the following:

  • Current alert profiles
  • Current requests (e.g. external requests or suggestions for purchase)
  • Ratings and comments - Approved by library staff
  • Ratings and comments - Declined by library staff
  • Ratings and comments - Pending review by library staff

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each item. Use these links to cancel requests, amend your alert profiles and update ratings and comments.

History

This section displays a history of the following:

  • Previous loans
  • Previous reservations
  • Previous requests

If there are any items in these categories, a link is provided to display detailed information for each item.

Personal Details

You can view and update your personal details, such as current address and contact information, online.

  1. Sign in and go to the Personal Details tab.
  2. Make any changes to reflect current, preferred information.
  3. Click Save.

Change My Password/PIN

You can change your Password or PIN online:

  1. Sign in and go to the Personal Details tab.
  2. Under Other Details, enter your new password or PIN, which must be 8-20 characters, including at least one number and a capital letter.
  3. Confirm your password or PIN.
  4. Click Save.

Signing Out

To protect your privacy, please sign out when you have finished using the catalogue. If you leave your session inactive for more than 20 minutes, your session will timeout after 60 seconds notice.

To sign out, click the Sign out button from the upper right had side of the website.

Renewals

About renewals

You may renew your loans online, unless:

  • The item is reserved.
  • The item has been renewed before.
  • The item is more than 12 days overdue.
  • Your card has expired or is otherwise blocked.

Renewing items

To renew your loans:

  1. Sign in and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click on Current loans.
  3. Renew individual loans by ticking the box beside each item and then click Renew Selections.
  4. To renew all loans, click Renew All.

Please note the new due date for each loan. If an item does not renew, please return it or contact us.

Reservations

Reserving items

You can reserve items that are currently out on loan or available at another Moreton Bay region library. As you browse through the records retrieved by your search, you can place a reservation for individual titles or for a set of titles from the catalogue search results page:

  1. Tick the box beside the items you want to reserve, then click Reserve Selections. Or reserve individual items by clicking on the title, then on Place Reservation.
  2. If prompted to Sign in, enter your library card number and password or PIN.
  3. Select your preferred Pickup Location.
  4. When reserving more than one item, you can select the number of Titles Required if you don’t want them all. Or reserve all the titles by using the default All titles option.
  5. Select an expiry period if desired. Your reservation will be automatically cancelled if not completed by this date.
  6. Click Place Reservation.
  7. Click Continue to accept the reservation fee and complete your reservation.

You will be notified when your item is ready to be picked up. Reservations are held for collection for 14 days.

Reserving magazines

You can reserve items that are currently out on loan or available at another Moreton Bay region library. To search for and reserve magazines:

  1. Enter the magazine title in the search box.
  2. Select Magazines from the Collections drop-down menu and click Search.
  3. Click the hyperlinked title of the magazine.
  4. Click Browse Issues, which appears under Holdings.
  5. Click the hyperlinked year of the issue you want.
  6. Click the hyperlinked month to check the magazine's location and availability.
  7. Click Place Reservation.
  8. If prompted to Sign in, enter your library card number and password or PIN.
  9. Select your preferred Pickup Location.
  10. Select an expiry period if desired. Your reservation will be automatically cancelled if not completed by this date.
  11. Click Place Reservation.
  12. Click Continue to accept the reservation fee and complete your reservation.

You will be notified when your item is ready to be picked up. Reservations are held for collection for 14 days.

Editing Reservations

To edit your reservations:

  1. Sign in and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click the Reservations not yet available link in the reservations section.
  3. Tick the box next to any items you wish to edit and click the Edit Reservation button.
  4. Adjust the pickup location or add a suspension date, if required.
    • Setting a "Suspend until" date for your reservation will keep you progressing in the item reservation queue but not complete your reservation request until after the date selected.

Viewing Reservations

To view your reservations:

  1. Sign in and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click the appropriate link in the reservations section.
  3. Browse the list to find information about your reservation, such as rank, pickup location and status.
  4. Click a hyperlinked title to view more information about any reserved item.

Cancel reservations

You can cancel your current reservations, bookings or requests if they are no longer required.

  1. Sign in to and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Reservations not yet available or Reservations available for pickup.
  3. Cancel individual reservations by ticking the box beside each item, then click Cancel Selections.
  4. To cancel all your reservations, click Cancel All.

Reviews

About reviews

As you browse through the records in your result set after performing a search in the Library Catalogue, you will notice that some records are displayed with a number of stars. This indicates that one or more reviews have been attached to the record displayed. The number of stars displayed is an average of the ratings given to this record by the reviewers. Ratings are given as a number between 0 (very bad) and 10 (very good).

Adding a review

To add a review:

  1. Search for the item you want to review, and click on the title.
  2. Click Add your review to display a form for you to complete.
  3. If prompted, sign in using your library card number and password or PIN.
  4. Select the rating for this item; 0 is very bad and 10 is very good.
  5. Enter your comments. Press enter to start a new paragraph.
  6. Click Add Comment. Your comments will be reviewed by library staff before they are publicly posted online.

Editing a Review

Only pending reviews may be edited. To edit a pending review:

  1. Sign in and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Ratings and comments - Pending.
  3. If there is more than one record pending, click on the desired title to select.
  4. Click Edit Comment.
  5. Make the required changes and click Update Comment.

Deleting a Review

To delete a review:

  1. Sign in and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Ratings and comments.
  3. If there is more than one record pending, click on the desired title to select.
  4. Click Delete Comment.

Alert Profiles

About Alert Profiles

Setting up an alert profile means you will get an email notification when our libraries add a new title by your favourite author, or on a topic of interest, or even something new in your favourite collection like DVDs or talking books. From the alert email, you can easily and quickly reserve items.

To use alert profiles you must have an email address included in your membership details.

Creating a New Alert Profile

To add a new alert profile:

  1. Sign in to and go to the New Alert Profile tab.
  2. Enter your preferences.
  3. Click Search to test your search. Return to your profile using the navigation breadcrumbs at the top of the result set.
  4. Adjust your profile if needed and retest.
  5. Select an alert frequency and an expiry date (optional).
  6. Name your profile.
  7. Click Save.

Updating an Alert Profile

To update an alert profile:

  1. Sign in to My Library and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Alert Profiles in the the Other section to display a list of your profiles.
  3. Click the title of the profile to be updated.
  4. Make changes to your profile and retest.
  5. Click Save. To exit without saving changes, click Reset

Optional extra actions:

  • Display New Entries - this will display any records which match your search profile but which are not already in your profile set.
  • Update Profile Set - this will reset the profile set to include all records matching your search criteria.
  • Display Profile Set - this will display all records currently held in your profile set.
  • Clear Profile Set - this will clear all records currently held in your profile set. The next time your profile is checked for new entries, all records matching the search criteria will be reported.

Deleting Alert Profiles

To delete an alert profile:

  1. Sign in to My Library and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Alert Profiles in the the Other section to display a list of your profiles.
  3. Click the title of the profile to be deleted.
  4. Click Delete.

Searching

Quick Search

Enter one or more words or a name in the search box, then click OK or enter.

Select from the following types of searches:

  • Keywords to find the words anywhere in the records
  • Phrase to find items with the words you have entered in a sequence
  • Exact Match to find items matching only the words you have entered

Title Search

A title search lets you search for words in the title or series title, and lets you browse through titles beginning with your words. Enter one or more words in the search box, select the type of search then click OK. Select from following types of searches:

  • Keywords to find the words anywhere in the title
  • Browse to find titles starting with the text you have entered
  • Phrase to find titles with the words you have entered in a sequence
  • Exact Match to find titles matching only the words you have entered

If your search is successful a page of titles will be displayed. Select the titles you want to see, and click Display Selections.

Author Search

An author search lets you search for words in an author's name. You can select to search all authors, only individuals, or only organisations. Enter the words you would like to find, select the type of search then click OK. Select from the following types of searches:

  • Keywords to find the words anywhere in the author's name
  • Browse to find author names starting with the text you have entered. You can enter as much or as little of the name as you know. All names starting with the text you enter will be displayed.

If your search is successful a page of names will be displayed. Select the names you want to use, and click Display Selections.

Subject Search

A subject search lets you search for words in a subject heading, and allows you to browse through subjects beginning with your words. Enter the words you would like to find, select the type of search then click OK. Select from the following types of searches:

  • Keywords to find the words anywhere in the subject heading
  • Browse to find subjects starting with the text you have entered
  • Phrase to find subjects with the words you have entered in a sequence
  • Exact Match to find subjects matching only the words you have entered

If your search is successful a page of subject headings will be displayed. Select the headings you want to use, and click Display Selections.

Advanced Search

Advanced Search lets you perform more complicated searches. Type your search words in the boxes on the search screen. You can enter several words in each box, enter words in any number of boxes, and select options from drop down lists. Click OK to start your search. Records will be found if all of the search terms you enter are in the same record.

If your search is successful a page of items will be displayed showing brief details for each item. Click on a title link to display full details for the item.

You can do a very specific search if you know exactly what you are looking for, or you can do a broader search and then narrow down the list of records later using the Refine Set option, if needed.

If your search is successful a page of subject headings will be displayed. Select the headings you want to use, and click Display Selections.

Search for Magazine Issues

To search for magazine issues:

  1. Enter the magazine title in the search box.
  2. Select Magazines from the Collections drop-down menu and click Search.
  3. Click the hyperlinked title of the magazine.
  4. Click Browse Issues, which appears under Holdings.
  5. Click the hyperlinked year of the issue you want.
  6. Click the hyperlinked month to check the magazine's location and availability.

Can't Find it? Request It!

About Requests

If you cannot find the item you are looking for in our catalogue, we can usually get it for you using our External Requests (Interlibrary loan) service.

We can also get a copy of an article in a journal or book for you, using the Article Requests service.

  • Charges may apply for these services.

Alternatively, if you think the item you are looking for would be useful to have in our libraries, you can Suggest a Purchase.

Creating an External (Interlibrary Loan) Request

Items not held in our collection may be available on request from libraries outside the Moreton Bay region. Loan periods, fees and renewal conditions vary. You will be notified when your item is ready to be picked up. External request items are held for collection for 7 days only.

If your item is unavailable we will contact you within 7 days.

To place an External (Interlibrary Loan) request:

  1. Click on Can't find it? and select External Request.
  2. If prompted, sign in using your library card number and PIN.
  3. Enter as much information as you can about the item you require.
  4. Click Place Request
  5. Click Continue.

Request an Article

Articles from journals or a chapters of a book can also be requested online. Fees may apply. You will be notified when your item is ready to be collected. If we are unable to obtain your item, we will contact you within 7 days.

To request an article:

  1. Click on Can’t Find It? and select Article Request .
  2. If prompted, sign in using your library card number and password or PIN.
  3. Enter as much information as you can about the item you require. You must enter the title of the item, journal title and page numbers.
  4. Select the location from which you would like to collect the article.
  5. Click Place Request.
  6. Click Continue.

Suggesting a Purchase

If you can’t find the item you are looking for in our catalogue and you think it would be useful for the Library to own a copy, you can Suggest a Purchase

To suggest an item for purchase:

  1. From the Can't Find It? menu, select Suggest a Purchase.
  2. If prompted, Sign in using your library card number and PIN or password.
  3. Enter as much information as you can about the item.
  4. Click Place Request.
  5. Click Continue to proceed with your request.

If purchased, the item will be reserved for you and reservation fees will be applied. We will notify you when the item is ready to be picked up. You can track or cancel your request by signing in to My Account.

DVDs and CDs may only be requested after they have been released for sale in Australia.

If not purchased, we will contact you within 7 days.

Viewing any Requests

To view a request:

  1. Sign in and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Current Requests.
  3. Click the blue hyperlinked ID number of the request.

Cancelling any Requests

To cancel a request:

  1. Sign in to My Library and go to the Summary tab.
  2. Click Current Requests.
  3. Click the blue hyperlinked ID number of the request.
  4. Click Cancel Request.
