Dementia-friendly libraries - Resources

We are working towards becoming dementia-friendly in 2023-2024. Dementia Australia badge.

Libraries are working with our community and Dementia Australia on an action plan to become a dementia-friendly organisation, focussing on community education, staff training, inclusive programming, spaces, and collections.

Recollect Reading

Find dementia-friendly resources in our libraries to support individuals with dementia, their carers, and families. Our Recollect Reading collection encourages reading despite limitations caused by memory loss. The collection includes topics to stimulate memory and reminiscences, and contains:

  • brightly illustrated or photographed books
  • larger print
  • simple text
  • non-fiction, selected children’s fiction and adult/large print books.

Browse the Recollect Reading titles in our library catalogue or ask our friendly staff.

More items for loan

We are working on developing and expanding the libraries' resources to support people with dementia, their families, and carers.

Memory Lounge Kits & Our Story

Memory lounge kits are dementia-friendly photo albums with historic photos in them, plus some local history books.

  • Find these in the Caboolture, Redcliffe and Strathpine Local History spaces.

Search the Our History collection of digital historical resources including photographs, oral history recordings, documents, maps and more, from First Nations stories, through the development of the Moreton Bay region to the present day.
